Care for Dentures
If you wear dentures, it might feel like the routine of oral hygiene is behind you. In reality, caring for your dentures — and your mouth — is just as important as ever.
Good habits protect your gums, help your dentures fit well, and keep everything looking and feeling its best.
Rinse After Every Meal
Take your dentures out and rinse them with water to remove food debris and loose particles. This is the fastest way to keep them fresh throughout the day.
Brush Them Daily
Use a soft-bristled denture brush and a non-abrasive denture cleaner (never regular toothpaste, which is too harsh). Gently brush all surfaces to remove plaque and stains.
Soak Them Overnight
Most dentures need to stay moist to keep their shape. Soak them in water or a denture soaking solution when you sleep, following the manufacturer's instructions.
Care for Your Mouth Too
Before putting your dentures back in, use a soft toothbrush to gently clean your gums, tongue, and roof of your mouth. This removes plaque and stimulates circulation.
Handle With Care
Stand over a folded towel or a basin of water when handling your dentures. They can crack or break if dropped, even from a small height.
See Us Regularly
Regular check-ups let us make sure your dentures still fit properly and your gums stay healthy. Poor fit can cause sore spots and infection — both easily prevented with routine visits.
