Stop It
Before It Starts
Gingivitis is a common form of gum disease — but "common" doesn't mean harmless. Redness, swelling, and bleeding at the gum line are early warning signs that shouldn't be ignored.
Left untreated, gingivitis can progress to periodontitis and, eventually, tooth loss. The good news: prevention is straightforward.
Brush Well, Twice a Day
Use a soft-bristled brush and fluoride toothpaste for two full minutes, morning and night. Focus gently along the gum line where plaque loves to accumulate.
Floss Every Day
Brushing alone can't reach between teeth. Daily flossing (or an interdental cleaner) is the single best habit for preventing gingivitis.
Rinse with an Antibacterial Mouthwash
Therapeutic mouthwash reduces the bacteria that cause plaque. Ask us which type is best for your situation.
Eat Smart
A balanced diet with plenty of vitamin C and calcium supports gum health. Limit sugary snacks and drinks that feed harmful bacteria.
Don't Skip Your Cleanings
Even careful home care can't remove hardened tartar. Professional cleanings every six months keep gingivitis at bay — and let us catch problems while they're still easy to fix.
